Metallics & Camo

What happens when you mix two great Fall trends? Amazing things!! Camo and Metallics are HUGE this season in everything from footwear to handbags. I had to find a way to mix the two. I love taking "mild" fashion risks and thinking outside the box! LOL.. I am super excited about the look I put together and I hope you are too!

I found the sweatshirt and skirt at Bloomingdales! The length of the skirt is so lady-like and the sweatshirt is beyond cozy! What's even better is that I know that the skirt and sweatshirt will work with so many other items in my wardrobe! These gorgeous rose-gold heels are from Aldo. They are so pretty and only $80! Final touch, grey clutch (similar). Give this look a try!

Haute and Home-Made Halloween!

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays! Who doesn't like to get dressed up and eat candy?! The only thing I struggle with is finding the right costume for not only me, but my kids! I find that a lot of the costumes out there for women and for girls look trashy and cheap and are EXPENSIVE! So, this year I decided to partner with Blowout Morristown and create 3 fun, "home-made" costumes for me and my girls! And boy, did we have fun!! AND, I found most of our costumes in our closets! I only had to buy a few things to complete each look.

For Cooper, who is 13, I thought Audrey Hepburn was a perfect costume for her and she agreed! Jackie from Blowout brought this look to life with a gorgeous updo and beautiful makeup! What teenage girl doesn't want to get glammed up and be transformed into a Hollywood icon?! The black dress is ZARA (something similar linked), shoes are Sam Edelman, and accessories are from Claire's (earrings, tiara, gloves) and Francesca's (necklace)!

Since my 9 year old is so spunky and animated, I wanted her costume to be super fun...so we chose a cat! Jackie used her hair to make the cat ears and did a spectacular job on the makeup! Cam truly looked like a cat and she was super happy with her look! This costume was beyond easy. I grabbed black leggings from Jcrew, a black tee shirt, patent leather shoes from Nordstrom, and cat accessories from Claires.

And last, but not least...there was me! There are few options for adults that aren't inappropriate, and I knew I didn't want to dress up as "slutty" Cookie Monster...yup, there is such a thing! So, I dug through my closet and found a dress (similar style linked) and heels (similar style linked) that I wore to a Great Gatsby themed birthday party a couple of years ago. It was perfect! All I needed was my grandmother's beaded handbag (similar style linked) and a few great accessories (pearls, earrings, head band - all similar styles). Jackie's hair and makeup was gorgeous and perfect for this 1920's look. Happy Halloween everyone!!

Cutest Pair of Flats!

Is it possible to build an entire look around a pair of shoes? DEFINITELY! I recently was in the city with my husband and kids and the shoes I wore for the day were super pretty, but PAINFUL! By lunch time I was in tears and hobbling down Broadway. I had to find a pair of shoes ASAP or I wasn't going to make it through (or enjoy) the rest of the day! Thankfully, I happened upon an H & M and not only found the CUTEST pair of shoes, but they were super comfy too- THANK GOODNESS!

I absolutely LOVE the bow detail on these flats (different color)! And can you believe they are only $25?! I kept the rest the look simple and classic.  I grabbed my favorite Citizens of Humanity jeans, cream silk top and tan cape! Accessory: Chanel Handbag (similar) :-)

BEST Jacket Ever!

The weather this Fall has been so odd! I keep waiting for the cooler weather to set in, so that I can finally break out some of my new Fall pieces...especially jackets! A jacket can be such a fun and easy way to add a little "pizazz" to your look ....did I just say pizazz? Oh man, I'm getting old.

So, this jacket from Zara makes me feel like a cross between Michael Jackson and George Washington! The detail is amazing and it is only $150. I thought it was a appropriate to take my pic with these guys - George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, a…

So, this jacket from Zara makes me feel like a cross between Michael Jackson and George Washington! The detail is amazing and it is only $150. I thought it was a appropriate to take my pic with these guys - George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and Alexander Hamilton on the green in Morristown. They didn't even mind holding my handbag! To keep this look casual, I grabbed a light weight knit from Zara to go under the jacket, my favorite Citizens of Humanity jeans and the MUST-HAVE booties for Fall.

Sweaty Betty!

Over the Summer while attending a BBQ at a good friend's house, I was fortunate enough to meet the owners of Sweaty Betty! What a treat! I immediately bombarded them with questions about their brand; how they chose the fabrics, the design...I definitely talked their ears off! LOL. What I found out is that so much time and dedication goes into the brand, bringing the consumer honestly the most comfortable and great looking workout clothes out there!

Sweaty Betty_0203.jpg

I'm addicted to these Zero Gravity Run Leggings (similar). The fabric is so light, it truly feels like you aren't wearing anything (in a good way!) Oh, and they make your "bum" look great too! When I work out, I love tank tops that have a built in jog bra...it's just one less thing to think about. The Namaska Bamboo padded yoga tank fit the bill perfectly. Once again, I have to mention the fabric! This tank feels like a t-shirt, but is so light in weight! Final touch: my retro new balance sneaks!

We are all crazy busy, right? I feel like I go from one thing to the next with barely enough time to eat something that doesn't come in a wrapper! So, on today's blog I wanted to save you a few minutes in your day, by showing you how to take your Sweaty Betty workout clothes and turn them into a casual day look! It just requires two things....a silk black bomber jacket and high top sneakers (similar). Last touch: dry shampoo (lol).
