Shorts Season

Is it me or are shorts nowadays REALLY short?? I'm sorry, but I don't want half of my butt cheek hanging out. It's very uncomfortable and not attractive. Just saying. BUT Summer is upon us, and we all need a few good pairs of shorts that we can throw on when we don't want to wear a skirt or a sundress. One trick I discovered recently is "un-cuffing" my jean shorts. It gives me extra length that I need and want (now that I am 44)! I was determined to find more short options, and while shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch for my 14 year old, I found the most amazing pair of shorts. I kid you not! I do recommend going up a size - their clothing seems to be made for very skinny people! They are the perfect length and only $54!

Since these shorts were on the "longer" side and had a cute belt, I decided to dress them up! This lady-like top is from Anthropologie. I love the lace detail around the neck. Accessories: Veronica Beard heels (on repeat - they go with everything!) and a colorful striped straw clutch! I am happy to report that there are short options out there for us ladies who like to keep our butts covered!

Another way to wear overalls!

I have been obsessed with overalls for about two years now. The last time I wore overalls was in college (late 90's), but the look was much different then! It was a body suit, over-sized Gap overalls, and Doc Maartens. Who's with me? Isn't it funny how it all comes back? However, considering I am 20+ years out of college, my "take" on denim overalls has definitely changed!

I am happy to report that Madewell (as well as other brands) have overalls very similar to the ones that I am wearing. I have worn mine with heels, flip flops, a blazer, and today I decided to wear the shirt over the overalls! I know...seems kind of strange, BUT it turns the overalls into the cutest pair of jeans! Only problem - the bathroom. It takes a bit longer. LOL. I found this very flattering pink wrap shirt at Madewell. I LOVE the color! Accessories: my favorite new pair of sling backs from Shop Bop and my Louis Vuitton tote. And, I have to mention that this photo was taken in the Swiss Chalet in Morristown. It was so hard not to buy every sweet in the case!

Lauren B. in Morristown

I am so excited to collaborate with my friend, neighbor, and owner of Lauren B. Boutique in Morristown! After living in NYC for 8 years, I was excited to move to a town that was urban and had everything a girl needed! As a wife and mom of three, convenience is everything! And I love the fact that I can walk into town and head to Lauren B. and find anything from a cute dress or jeans to the perfect handbag and necklace! For my blog today, I am including three looks, to showcase how there is something for everyone at this super cute boutique. And, if you're lucky, you may get to meet Lauren's sweet pup, KoKo while you are shopping! Lauren B. : 55 South Street, Morristown, 973.656.9599

Stripes are as popular as Florals this Spring, so you can understand why I immediately fell in love with these Eva Franco Regatta pants (in Brooklyn Stripe - $198)! I love the side tie and that they can be dressed up or down! I chose this Simple Only Hearts navy blue top ($68) because of how soft it is (crazy soft!), and the fit was perfect with the flowy pants. Accessories: Sondra Roberts tote in red (sophisticated and versatile) and Veronica Beard heels. This look screams Summer and 4th of July!!

Who doesn't love a simple fitted dress and blazer? This look can be worn to lunch with your girlfriends or out on Saturday night! I love neutral colors, so I immediately grabbed the Astars tee shirt tank dress (in taupe - $150) and the Lisette - L white 3/4 scrunch sleeved blazer ($258) complimented the dress perfectly! I decided to keep the whole look neutral tones, so I added a great Pretty Persuasions vegan clutch (only $46!) and Veronica Beard heels. This is the kind of basic look that will be on repeat!

Colored denim has been a consistent trend over the past few years! It seems to be sticking around...LOL. However, I was very happy to find a more "subtle" colored denim at Lauren B. The Jag Carter crop knit denim are perfect in color "beach glass", and have a great stretch to them too ($84). I loved the Tempo Paris white drape top ($75), because I knew I would not only wear it with these jeans, but with so many other pieces in my wardrobe. Everyone knows how obsessed I am with leather jackets, so I was so excited to find this Lilla P. Moto Jacket (in marble slub terry - $188). It's a great "leather" alternative for warmer weather. Accessories: Street Level silver clutch with fringe zipper ($46) and white kitten heel sandals.. This last look is a perfect transition outfit from Winter to Spring...and it seems like Spring has finally sprung!!

44 Years Young

Today is my birthday. I am 44 years old. As a kid I remember counting down the days until my birthday. I LOVED getting older. Now, not so much! However, I try to take it in stride. I exercise, eat well, take my vitamins, etc. The list goes on and on, but it's still hard to watch my body change, to find new wrinkles and dimples, need glasses, and not understand what the hell a GIF or a meme are! Gosh, sometimes my kids make me feel like I am ancient. But at the end of the day, I think its actually my 3 girls that remind me to enjoy the journey and to not sweat the small stuff. Do I still wish I had the body of my 25 year old self? Damn, straight, but I wouldn't want to be 25 again. I am so happy and blessed at 44, and that is what I tell myself when a new wrinkle appears or my jeans from 5 years ago don't fit anymore. Because there is always a solution to everything - just go buy some face cream and a new pair of jeans. Just saying. xo

Rebecca Taylor really did it right this season!! I am loving everything in her collection. This dress is the perfect length, color, and print! I kept the accessories simple: white clutch, white kitten heels, and my favorite Warby Parker shades.

Momma & her Coffee!

I didn't always like coffee. I actually made it through high school and college without drinking any! Hard to believe, isn't it? When my first daughter was born, I knew I needed something to keep my eyelids open! That is when I became a coffee convert. I started out with the sweetest, least coffee-tasting drink. As my kids multiplied (I have 3 now), my coffee drinks changed. I needed the real deal! Isn't it funny how our tastes and habits change as we get older? However, one thing that I have tried to keep consistent over the years is getting dressed for the day....meaning getting out of my workout clothes! It definitely isn't always easy, but when I can make it happen, I feel great!! The secret is finding simple and easy looks that take no time to throw on.

What's easier than a pair of jeans and a summer top? Um...nothing! These Mother jeans fit like a glove and they are the first pair of cropped flare jeans that I believe would be flattering on most women! Let's be honest...it's not an easy trend! I am in love with Rebecca Taylor's spring collection. This top is so pretty and feminine and I know I will wear to death! Accessories: Veronica Beard heels (they seriously go with everything) and my Louis Vuitton tote (an oldie, but a goodie)!
