Layering at it's BEST!

Layering is a key element to making your wardrobe work in multiple seasons. I don't want to only wear my leather jacket or black romper in the Spring and Fall. I want to make them work even when it is a bit (well a lot) colder outside, and you can do this with a great fur. This look is perfect for date night at Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen, which is one of me and my hubby's go-to's  (when we can find the time to go out!).

I was in Savannah, GA over the holidays when I found this awesome black romper at Urban Outfitters. I was a bit surprised, since most of the shopping I do in that store is for my 12 and 14 year old girls! Hence, I was feeling pretty good (and young-er) with this find! I decided to pair it with one of my fave black leather jackets instead of a blazer and a gorgeous fur coat from Giorgio Pappas Furs. If you haven't been to his website or store in either New Vernon, NJ or NYC, you need to go. Giorgio has the most beautiful pieces out there and he is a total sweetheart!....and this Winter will be the perfect time to bundle up and look chic doing it! Last touches....black open toe heels (maybe a bit aggressive with the weather!), a Louis Vuitton bag and the super cool LOVE necklace I received a year ago (link is similar). So, layer up friends!

Vintage Red Schwinn

So, my favorite gift that I received for Christmas this year was my mom's 1970's red Schwinn beach cruiser. I've been wanting to buy a bike for the past few years....it's a perfect mode of transportation when you live in Morristown and parking isn't always easy! I know Winter isn't the best time to break in my new gift, but I had to give it a test drive before the snow comes! Now, all I need is a basket!

I found out pretty quickly that riding a bike in heels isn't that easy! Thankfully, I didn't hurt myself (body or ego). Since the holidays aren't that far behind us, this Aqua green sequin bomber jacket (yup, I'm wearing color) is still spot on. You can only have one sparkly piece in a look ( jennie-ism), so I paired it with a plaid flannel button down from Madewell and awesome Mother black ripped jeans. Finally, a pair of velvet black pumps, because they go with just about everything (except, maybe bike riding!).

January's Long List of "To Do's"

We all use the month of January to focus on the year ahead. Start anew. Whether it is trying a new exercise regime or the resolve to watch less Netflix and read more books, we all have a long list of projects to tackle. Later this month on my blog, we are going to tackle your closet with the Neat Method, a home organizing company! There's nothing better than a closet cleanse! You will probably laugh a bit, have a few "oh my gosh, I've been looking for that!" moments, and it will also be a great opportunity to put together some new looks with your existing wardrobe. I say start off 2017 with a bit of de-cluttering and organization - you will be amazed how much lighter you will feel! Look for this blog in the coming weeks.

When I work the Neat Method and help my client's create new looks or talk about what is missing in their wardrobe, I want to look put together but also be comfortable. About a month ago, I posted a pic on Insta of my new "mom" jeans. I seriously can't believe I once again fell in love with these Levi's I wore over 20 years ago. The long velvet blazer is from Zara and can be dressed up or down--a great versatile piece in my closet. And I love these Gucci pumps! The bow is super cute and they are beyond comfortable (no joke)! Finally, a bracelet and earrings by one of my faves, Ward Vintage.

New Year's Ready!

New Year's Eve in the North East is almost always freezing. Long gone are the days of me running around NYC in my short cocktail dress, trying to find a cab home and freezing my fanny off (and not caring)! However fun that may have been, I am happy now to be invited to a local party, with easier and more reliable transportation and a more practical (warmer) outfit.

I found this perfect New Year's Eve look at The Diamond Dream in Bernardsville. This black Rachel Comey jumpsuit is super chic, comfortable and warm(er) than other options in my closet. The neckline is so pretty and perfect for this dainty necklace from Willow St. And the only other thing you need for this simple, yet sophisticated look is a pair of black open toe heels! Here's to a happy, healthy and bright New Year! I hope you have a fantastic celebration wherever you are! See you in 2017. xo
